Religious Considerations

Consent forms for parents and doctorsCircumcision of children is now illegal in South Africa, unless there is a clear diagnosable medical pathology or if it is a religious circumcision, thanks to amendments to the South African Children’s Rights Act, . All religious and cultural circumcisions however require a consent form to be filled out.

Please download the circumcision consent forms, as included in the regulations accompanying the Children’s Act of 2005.

Those that fail to complete the forms and store until the age of majority are liable for prosecution and legal challenges from the child.
